Femtosecond-laser induced SHG and SFG from charged water microdroplets

Abstract

Charged water droplets illuminated by femtosecond laser pulses generate unexpected second harmonic or sum frequency signals attributed to the laser coupling with the droplet surface electrostatic potential. This all optical probe is challenging for atmospheric sensing.
