High Beam Quality and Reduced Backconversion in Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate Semi-Noncollinear Optical Parametric Oscillators

Abstract

We characterize a 1064 nm pumped, 10 kHz semi-noncollinear PPLN-OPO. The PPLN-crystal had a parallel grating tilted by 60° to its x-axis. The OPO provides an efficiency of 35% and compared to a collinear PPLN-OPO an improved beamquality (M2 < 1.2) due to reduced backconversion.
