Abstract

We demonstrate extension of the error-free transmission distance in a 10Gb/s system with 80km amplifier spacing, from~1,600km to 5,840km through all-optical 2R-regeneration using an ion-implanted InGaAsP MQW saturable absorber and a non-linear fibre.
