Abstract
Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in multimode optical fibers is a well known technique to achieve phase conjugation at low input powers. If fibers of more than 1 km length were used, the threshold is well below 1 W and even the beam of a cw laser could be phase conjugated.1 But very coherent laser sources are required in this case. Therefore this is not suitable for standard laser systems as used for example in material processing.
