Abstract
The mid-wave and long-wave infrared spectral regions are of considerable interest for remote sensing applications including differential absorption lidar, differential scattering lidar and multi-spectral laser radar. Robust fieldable solid- state lasers operating at wavelengths longer than 4 pm have not yet been developed, and broadly tunable sources in these spectral regions have typically been based on OPOs using nonlinear materials such as ZnGeP2 (ZGP). ZGP offers a high dcff. value, relatively high damage threshold and high thermal conductivity.
