Abstract

A novel type of third harmonic generation (THG) has been discovered in the study of femtosecond pulse propagation through photothermo-refractive (PTR) glass. It was found that an efficient resonant THG occurs if Bragg conditions for a phase volume grating recorded in this glass were satisfied for the first harmonic.
