Abstract
Solid-state lasers emitting in the eye-safe region near 2 μm are promising candidates for several applications requiring propagation through the atmosphere, such as coherent Doppler velocime- try and high-sensitivity Dial measurements. In this work we perform a comparative analysis of diode-pumped cw Tm-Ho:YLF and Tm-Ho:BaYF lasers, oscillating at around 2μm, in terms of output power and wavelength tunability.
