Abstract

The nonlinear phase distortion that arise from cascaded χ(2) processes in noncentrosymmetric crystals has recently received considerable attention. For many practical application ones need to measure the amplitude of the effective nonlinear index of refraction n2 associated to this cascaded process.1 Hereafter, we propose simple spectral method which allows ones to evidence and characterize the χ(2) cascading phenomena occurring during second or sum frequency generation (SHG or SFG).
