Abstract
Third-harmonic generation (THG) by cascading second-harmonic generation (SHG) and sum- frequency generation (SFG) is an efficient method for generating short coherent wave- lengths.1 * Recently, we reported that the THG by cascading non-phase-matched SHG and SFG in a single cerium-doped KTiOPO, (Ce.KTP) crystal from femtosecond laser pulses at 1.32 ftm.5 A conversion efficiency of 0.17% was achieved at a pump intensity of 3.2 x 10" W/cm2. In order to improve the conversion efficiency, we have de- signed a new KTP structure by using quasi- phase-matched (QPM) SHG to replace the previ- ous non-phase-matched SHG. Here, we report our first result of efficiently generating coherent blue light in this crystal.
