Abstract
There is great interest in driving short-wavelength lasers by optical field ionization (OFI),1 and both recombination lasers and coliisional lasers have been demonstrated with this approach.2,3 To dale OFI-driven lasers have only operated on transitions between valance levels, but in order to generate shorter wavelengths it would be advantageous to operate on inner-shell transitions.
