Abstract

Spatial coherence and filameotation tendencies of broad-area, high-power semiconductor lasers and amplifiers are strongly influenced by the linewidth enhancement factor, α.α is also a critical parameter controlling the laser linewidth and modulation characteristics of high frequency diode lasers.
