Para-H2 and ortho-D2 Raman lasers pumped by non-Gaussian beams in a multiple-pass cell

Abstract

A number of studies have been carried out to investigate the characteristics of para-H2 Raman lasers generated in the multiple-pass cell (MPC),1−3 however, those were exclusively pumped by the lowest-order Gaussian beams. The use of non-Gaussian beams such as annular beams is of great interest because intense laser beams produced from a single TEA CO2 unstable-resonator oscillator are attractive for pumping the para-H2 and or-tho-D2 Raman lasers, which presently use a long MOPA chain constructed by several TEA CO2 lasers.
