Abstract

A microchip laser is a diode-pumped solid-state laser, which has to be very simple to use and to manufacture. We have processed reliable and compact microchip lasers emitting near 1.55 µm.1 When operated in a pulsed or modulated emission regime, this eye-safe laser can be used to build a range finder with a high detection range.
