Abstract

Recently, we demonstrated holographic recording in a 100-micron-thick photopolymer, achieving a surface density of 10 bits/µm2, using the setup shown in Fig. 1.1 This was done by recording a combination of peristrophic2 and angle-multiplexed holograms. A total of 32 holograms were recorded at a single location. Each page of hologram consisted of 590,000 pixels and occupied an area of 1.77 mm2, giving a page density of .334 bits/µm2. Because 32 holograms were multiplexed at the same location, the actual surface density is equal to 32 holograms times the page density of .334 bits/µm2, or 10.6 bits/µm2.
