Abstract

Synchronization of mode-locked lasers has become a subject of increasing interest lately due to the utilization of ultrafast lasers in communications systems, pump-probe measurements, and other applications.1,2 Commercial systems have been developed for synchronizing mode-locked Ti:sapphire lasers to an external source or to other mode-locked lasers.3 Here, we report the synchronization of two passively mode-locked Er:fiber lasers to an accuracy of 5 psec RMS.
