Unidirectional multiple-quantum-well laser

Abstract

We show that a nonreciprocal device can be made of two thin (thickness much less than a wavelength) layers—a dielectric layer and a gain larger.1 The function of this device is to exhibit a zero reflection in one direction and a nonzero reflection in the other direction.
