Abstract
Compact, pulsed blue-light sources will be useful in biomedical, biosensor, printing, and optical-recording applications. Efficient generation of blue light by frequency-doubled infrared laser diodes has become a reality. Peak power gains induced by the mode locking of diode lasers have recently enhanced the efficiency of second-harmonic generation in a bulk doubling crystal.1
