Abstract
Optical parametric processes have recently attracted great attention because of a number of unique characteristics. The availability of highly nonlinear crystals with a wide transparency range and a high damage threshold, such as BBO and LBO, have led to the development of optical parametric devices in the nanosecond, picosecond, and femtosecond ranges. In the short-pulse domain, traveling- wave optical parametric generator/amplifier configurations can efficiently produce broadly tunable, highly energetic short pulses. We report here on the realization of a high-efficiency, narrow-linewidth picosecond optical parametric system.
