Abstract
Compact and efficient sources of ultrashort, high power optical pulses will be important in a range of novel technologies, including x-ray generation for photolithography, high-spatial, resolution medical imaging, and high-speed measurement and characterization systems. We present the first results, to our knowledge, of an ultrafast semiconductor laser diode system that is used as a seed source for a flashlamp-pumped Cr:LiSAF regenerative amplifier system.
