Abstract
Recently, self-pumped phase conjugation (SPPC) by the simultaneous scattering of two light beams (incident and passing through the feedback loop) has been realized in Kerr-like nonlinear media, in nema tic liquid crystals (NLC) with thermal1 and orientational2 nonlinearities with both reciprocal and non-reciprocal loop schemes.3 The linear regime of SPPC (threshold generation, dynamics of scattering growth, and pumping waves near the threshold) in Kerr-like media and the stationary solution of the nonlinear equations were obtained theoretically.4 However, our experiments with NLC indicated the nonstationary dynamics of SPPC mirrors. Here we report numerical calculations and experimental investigations of the nonlinear dynamics of SPPC in a Kerr-like nonlinear layer with reciprocal and nonreciprocal feedback loops.
