Non-oxide glasses for optical waveguides applications

Abstract

Non-oxide glasses offer many advantages for passive and active waveguiding applications due to the low phonon energy of the host resulting in low optical losses in the mid IR region and a significant enhancement of the Rare Earth emission in activated glasses.
