Abstract

Semiconductor lasers able to generate picosecond optical pulses at different wavelengths simultaneously have potential applications in sensing, optical signal processing, all-optical probing and high bitrate optical wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) communications. To date, simultaneous dual-wavelength picosecond mode-locked pulse generation from diode lasers has been achieved using a novel double cavity laser structure3 and the Multichannel Grating Cavity (MGC) laser.2,3
