Abstract

The most promising nonlinear optical (NLO) materials currently available for a 2 μm pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO) are silver gallium selenide, AgGaSe2 (AGSE) and zinc germanium phosphide, ZnGeP2 (ZGP). Many potential applications of this OPO require several watts of tunable output at pulse repetition frequencies exceeding 10 kHz. It is therefore necessary to pay careful attention to the thermal properties of the NLO materials.
