Abstract
It is well-known that electro- or thermo- optically induced asymmetry in adiabatic optical Y-junctions can cause digital-like switching which is interesting because it offers an effective way for overcoming technological imperfections. In this paper it is shown that nonlinear asymmetrical Y- junctions can exhibit digital-like all-optical switching and approximate analytic results, which enable easy optimization of their performance, are given.
