Abstract
Thermal lensing is a sensitive technique to observe small refractive index changes due to linear or nonlinear absorption.1 That enables to do two-photon absorption (TPA) spectroscopy that can be applied to nonluminescent substances where the technique of two-photon excited luminescence does not work. Nonradiative relaxation of excitation in such subjects gives rise to effective heat generation. The main obstacle, that has to be overcome is the suppression of the contribution brought by solvent molecules to be heated through the absorption.
