Abstract
In this paper, we report on two diode- pumped Er:YAG oscillators: one laser that reaches power levels up to 600 mW and is tunable over a 2.933-2.939-μm range, and the other laser, a slightly modified, nondurable version of the first, that delivers up to 900 mW at 2.94 μm. Prior to development of these lasers, diode-pumped Er3+ lasers have been end-pumped, cw monolithic devices.1 While Er3+ in various garnets can deliver power levels on the order of 0.5 W, diode-end-pumped Er;YAG lasers have been limited to ~200 mW.
