Abstract

Compact diode pumped, practical single frequency solid state lasers are an attractive source for many applications. Although several novel designs of unidirectional ring lasers have been introduced over the years, microlasers have specific applications advantages in terms of simplicity and compactness of the source. To date the majority of reports of diode pumped microlasers have primarily concentrated on Nd doped systems [1,2], where the cavity mode spacing is greater than the gain bandwidth, consequently only one mode is supported. Here we report for the first time the characterisation of a tunable, single frequency, diode pumped CnLiSAF microlaser.
