Abstract

Temperature fluctuations in birefringent fibers is a severe problem encountered in the applications to optical sensors, components and devices. There have been many attempts to reduce the temperature fluctuations in birefringent fibers, such as suitable coating,¹ stress balance² and extrinsic configurations.³ Also the temperature sensitivity can be reduced by annealing.⁴
