Abstract

Holographic storage in photorefractive crystals has high storage density due to 3-D storage and high readout rate due to parallel retrieval. One important fact that has impeded the practical development of such memories has been the lack of materials that are sensitive to light during recording (to increase recording speed) but not during readout.
