Abstract

The achievement and operation of a unique helium-neon-hydrogen visible nuclear- pumped laser with the lowest threshold reported to date is described. The internal energy transfer (IET) theoretical model has been developed to explain the depopulation mechanism with hydrogen, which is effective in depopulating the lower excited laser state.
