Abstract

This presentation reports the results of the experiment performed to identify the best lasant for a space-based and direct solar-pumped laser that would serve as a lightweight power transmitter. Perfluoro-t-bufyl iodide, t-C4F9I, had been previously identified as the most promising lasant1 for direct solar-pumped lasers because of its good solar spectrum utilization, chemical reversibility, and adequate laser kinetics.
