Abstract

For a ranging and imaging application, we required a light source of 50 mJ of 1064-nm wavelength and 50 mJ of 532-nm wavelength, combined in one beam of less than 2-mrad divergence. Pulses of less than 20-ns duration were required at rates up to 30 Hz. The application also demanded a lightweight head of not more than 200 g, including the pump diodes, the Nd:YAG laser rod, the Q-switch, and the mirrors.
