Abstract

Based on new and earlier direct measurements of die multiphonon nonradiative relaxation (MNR) rates at 77 K in LaF3 and YLiF4 crystals doped with Er3+ and Nd3+ ions (Table la) the dependences of MNR probabilities from the number of phonons n participating in the transition [WMNR(n)] have been analyzed in the framework of nonlinear relaxation theory and the single-mode approximation.1,2
