Abstract

The growing application and rapid advancement of subcarrier modulation techniques in analog lightwave systems in recent years have focused attention on mechanisms that lead to nonlinear distortion in fiber transmission.1 In this paper we investigate two mechanisms for nonlinear distortion in analog lightwave systems associated with the presence of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in the transmission fiber.
