Abstract

The Nd:YAG laser-pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO) of beta-barium-borate (BBO) is a powerful all-solid-state source of tunable coherent radiation. As demonstrated in previous investigations1, the tuning range covers the spectral region from the ultra violet (300 run) to the near infrared (3000 nm). The internal conversion efficiency is typically 40- 60%, and total output pulse energies of 100-200 mJ are easily obtained.
