High throughput narrowband spectral filtering system for lidar applications

Abstract

The conventional spectral filtering systems used in lidars usually employ motto- or poly- chromator or a combination of interference filters.1 This approach features very low throughput, typically <1% when narowband operation is also required.2 We report on a new approach to this problem by using a combination of Lyot and Fabry-Perot filters. Besides the high throughput, the system also features multichannel operation, which is imperative for lidar measurements with reference channels.
