Abstract
High power spatially coherent semiconductor lasers have been a goal of diode laser researchers for years. Broad-area amplifiers have reliably demonstrated powers as high as 21 W pulsed and 3.3 W cw in a single diffraction-limited lobe, while monlithic flared amplifiers have demonstrated as high as 3 W cw in a single diffraction-limited lobe.
