Abstract

Ultraviolet laser pulses reflected from organic targets under ablation conditions have markedly distorted temporal profiles.1 While the cause of this reflected-pulse distortion is debated, the degree of truncation clearly depends both on the incident laser pulse fluence and the organic composition of tine material being irradiated. For aqueous gels, the distortion is also sensitive to the water content of the target.2
