Abstract

High speed packet-switched networks using frequency division multiplexing as well as fast reconfigurable FDM networks require transmitter and local oscillator lasers with short switching and settling times.1,2 Due to temperature changes associated with current switching, the optical frequency of semiconductor lasers starts to drift within 2 μs after the switching.2,3
