Abstract

The dynamics of an external cavity laser are dependant on the phase change in the external cavity, A phase-conjugate mirror removes the external cavity phase change resulting in different behavior1 as compared to a laser diode with optical feedback from a conventional mirror.2 This work investigates the effect of phase-conjugate feedback on both the intensity noise and turn-on delay jitter of a laser diode.
