Abstract

Deuterated L-arginine phosphate (d-LAP) is a new nonlinear optical material,1 which to date has not been widely used despite reports of its possessing a very high optical damage threshold2 and moderate nonlinear coefficients and being obtainable in large single crystals. We report, what is to our knowledge the first optical parametric oscillator (OPO) using d-LAP as the gain medium. Our device is configured in a type I phase-matching geometry, cut to maximize the nonlinear coefficient.
