Abstract
Because of the property differences of dissimilar metals, their weldability can be difficult. Lasers operated in a long pulsed (2-20-ms) mode allow for the control of energy deposition rates which will increase the probability for successfully joining dissimilar noble, ferrous, and refractory metals.
