Abstract
The α-factor and the linewidth of a semiconductor laser can be drastically altered when the laser is coupled to an external passive resonator by detuned-loading effects.1 Detuned loading can also be observed in devices with integrated narrowband elements like distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs). We report what we believe to be the first measurements of detuned loading effects in a DBR laser with a weak grating constant.
