Abstract
In practical use, the coupling efficiency between optical fiber and LiNbO3 channel waveguide is an important factor. Recently, polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) has aroused interest for the fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) system and other sensing systems. In general, coupling efficiency depends on the relative shapes of the channel waveguide .and the optical fiber cross-sections.1 The purpose of this paper is to use a simple titanium diffusion method to control the optical shape of channel Waveguide to match that of a PMF.
