Abstract

The high pressure particle beam-excited Ne laser operates on transitions between the 3p' [1/2] and 3s' [1/2] levels (585.3 and 659.9 nm), and the 3p[1/2]1 and 3s[3/2] levels (724,5 and 703.2 nm). Quasicontinuous oscillation on the 585-nm transition has been obtained with both electron beam1 and fission fragment excitation2 using He/Ne/Ar mixtures at pressures of a few atmospheres.
