Abstract

Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers may become important for future optical switching and interconnector use because of their inherent array structure. Recent progress on these lasers is impressive.1 However, it has been suggested that vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers are relatively immune to the effect of the optical feedback.2 In this paper, we report the measurements of spectral characteristics of vertical- cavity top-surface-emitting lasers (VCTSELs)3 with optical feedback levels from −80 dB to −20 dB.
