Abstract
The optical trapping technique is expected to play an important role in the field of cell biology and biotechnology because of its simplicity and noncontact property for manipulating cells, which is superior to conventional mechanical-manipulations. Optical trapping can be achieved in an enclosed chamber, which prevents contamination and unsafe conditions, together with the handling capability of any specific cells to be processed.
