Abstract

A key component to an optical communication system is a high-speed light source. Integrated modulator structures have potential for high-speed modulation, and in this work we describe the operation of a multiple quantum-well laser monolithically integrated with an intracavity electroabsorption modulator using partial inter-diffusion.
