Abstract
The optical parametric oscillator (OPO) a tunable coherent frequency converter. Its integrated optical version allows us to use power confinement and stable transverse single-mode interaction in a waveguide structure to improve the efficiency of this nonlinear-optical device. Since the very first experimental demonstration of the integrated OPO (IOPO) in the early 1980s,1 a lot of progress in the understanding of its properties and significant improvements of its performance have been achieved.
