We propose a new technique for measuring the carrier lifetime (τ) and the linewidth enhancement factor (α-parameler) in a traveling-wave semiconductor optical amplifier (TW-SOA) under cw conditions. Experimental results verify that the method enables us to evaluate τ and α as a function of wavelength and injection current to the TW-SOA.
